What is a DGFT Digital Signature Certificate?

A DGFT DSC is a specialized digital certificate issued to organizations engaged in foreign trade. Unlike standard DSCs, a DGFT DSC contains the applicant's 10-digit Import Export Code (IEC) and branch code embedded in the certificate properties.

Why is DGFT DSC required on the dgft.gov.in portal?

It is mandatory for applying for new IEC licenses, updating existing IEC details, applying for Advance Authorization, EPCG schemes, RoDTEP incentives, and submitting online export-import documentation.

Can I use a regular Class 3 DSC on the DGFT portal?

No. The DGFT portal specifically checks for the embedded IEC code field within the digital certificate. Regular DSCs without the embedded IEC are rejected by the DGFT portal.
